Who I Follow
  • I know. I know. It’s been a month since I last posted. Why so? Well, I was most of the time out with my aunt who I always accompany wherever she goes (niece duties). I have a research project I need to work on for the rest of the summer break. I need to “reinvent” my dorm life (well, it’s just me moving to another room for the next school year. Yey!). And I am also trying to make a “living” by having an online job. Currently, my life is research project by day and online job by night. Whew!

But truth is, I’ve been very lazy when it comes to posting here and I’m starting to get guilty! :(

I think it’s time to bring this blog back to life by sharing with you some colorful and delicious treats I had this afternoon!

I’m pretty sure you’d agree with me when I say that this season’s MANILA HEAT IS A KILLER! That’s why my idea of enjoying Big Scoop’s Mount Everest Sundae was really appealing to my groupmates who have been working hard for the past few days interviewing different patients (for the love of our research!). These treats were also our prizes to ourselves for a job well done since we started!

We ordered two Mount Everest Sundaes, each having 9 scoops of ice cream. One before we started encoding our data for analysis and the other one came right after we finished the encoding.

(Flavors shown in photo from top to bottom: Pistachio, Bubblegum Mallow, Banana Nut, Golden Langka, Chocolate Chocolate Chip. Flavors not in photo: Dark Chocolate, Strawberry Fields, and the 2 others I can’t remember!)

If you’re planning a trip to this ice cream shop, I would recommend you try the fruity flavors of Avocado and Golden Langka! It’s like the real thing. ;) The Green Tea flavor is also highly recommended, that strong green tea after taste is a plus for me! If you’re going for something chocolatey, try their Dark Chocolate flavor, the creamy and chocolatey mix will definitely win your heart!

And oh, the best part of this treat? I got it for 50% off since I purchased it in a group buying site. Now that makes the whole experience sweeter! The normal price of this sundae doesn’t hurt much either, 9 scoopful treats together with whipped cream and cherries costs only 200 pesos! Good deal, right? :)

Just got home from the happiest place on earth!:) Yes, one day is really not enough for Hong Kong Disneyland (and I bet that goes the same for the other Disneyland parks in other countries). And it just so happened that it rained today that we didn’t really get to enjoy much of the rides and activities. Still, it was memorable because (1) it’s Disneyland! (2) I got to spend it with my family. It’s been years since we had a real family vacation and I’m just so blessed this year that we were finally able to have one after a long time. Yey for today (and the rest of the week!)

It’s been more than a month since we celebrated our AMSA Night 2013 and it still gives me the *kilig* vibes whenever I remember how everyone enjoyed the event. I’ve shared about the event before through the teaser video and photobooth shots I’ve posted here before. And finally, I get to share the event photos as well!

Before getting to the photos, let me share with you what AMSA Night is all about. Well, it is the socialization night organized by the Asian Medical Students’ Association of UERM. As I always say, this is not your regular medschool party since the event has a program flow made up of games, raffle, different performances from the members, and a lot more!

For this year’s theme, it was a black and white party. It sounded boring for some, I know. But the main reason people why people chose this is because they won’t be having any trouble looking for something to wear with such theme. Can’t blame them. Though the theme sounded plain, the truth is we were challenged. Of course, we wanted to offer the best for the crowd so we had think out of the box and dig in for a deeper concept for the black and white theme.

After all the brainstorming and discussion, we finally came up with a title for the event which will embody the party theme - EXPOSED! Since some of the purposes of the event include exhibiting the members’ creativity, skills, and talent, and of course, letting the members be acquainted with the organization, we thought the title just fits the event perfectly. It’s like exposing the film where you get the brighter picture. (Okay, so I’m really not good at explaining it in this part. Sorry!)

All the preparations were done by our members, from the venue set-up to the finger food preparation. It was great to see how everything fell into place that night.

One of the highlights of our event was the Inter-committee Presentation where the 5 committees of the organization will be presenting different production numbers. Their goal is to win the hearts of our judges and walk away with a cash prize of 4,000 for their committee plus bragging rights!

To set the mood of the competition, the officers prepared a simple dance number that night. Spot me? Haha!

    Then the performances began.

    Hello Internals Committee!

    Ola Health Committee!

    Go Publicity Committee!

And say Hello to our winners! Yes, two groups won that night! So they had to divide the cash prize. Haha!

The magic performance by the Externals Committee surely got the crowd’s attention!

And of course, the Black Light Hand Performance by the Finance Committee was surely heartwarming! Too much AMSA Love here! :)

And in between, each performance, we had different segments prepared too - one of which is the Human Auction where each committee needs to give a representative for auction and the party guests would place their bids in order to win a date with the auctionees. Now that’s something that surely got the crowd screaming!

Although the event required too much preparation (as in too much!!!), I was glad we were able to go beyond people’s expectations and be able to give them what they deserve - a good night to remember!

When the program ended, the dance floor opened and it signaled everyone to have their real game face on!

Because all the preparations were crazy (yet fun), I just had to let it all out and dance the night away! Haha! Stress reliever indeed!

And it was also great that others also had the chance to be young, wild, and free that night. No books allowed here!

I thank God that everything went well that night even though there were really moments when I thought I can’t handle the pressure anymore. Faith really brings you wonders. :)

Fortunately, I also have event co-heads who were there to contribute ideas and share the struggles faced while organizing the event. And surprisingly, after all has been done, we seemed to create a different kind of bond which we didn’t see was coming our way. Yay!

Can’t wait for the next AMSA Night, I wonder how it’ll be next year! ;)

FanGirl Mode On. You know that feeling of having a happy crush from the junior year and you’re still a freshman? That type when you consider him “kuya” but undeniably feel kilig when you get to see him in school? Good thing my friend’s crush was one of the friendliest guys in school and one of the closest org-mates I had so I was able to ask him the favor to be part of our birthday surprise for her. I was able to take a video of the entire fan girl  moment my friend had and everything was just so perfect. Kilig madness all over. This was just for fun and one of the most unforgettable birthday surprise ideas I had for a friend. Epic. And because of this, there was one less lonely girl that day. ;)
